Mi-Amp: Digital Amp System & Hardware MIDI Bridge

Streamlining live workflows for traveling musicians with an all-in-one performance ecosystem

Yantra Input

The Problem

For traveling electronic musicians, setting up a mobile performance environment is an incredibly cumbersome and fragmented process. Artists are forced to carry a chaotic array of mini-synths, MIDI controllers, laptops, heavy external monitors/speakers, and multi-cable power bricks—requiring extensive teardown and assembly at every destination.

Furthermore, syncing popular hardware instruments frequently surfaces technical dead-ends. For instance, connecting a Yamaha Reface CS to a Korg Volca Bass lacks a reliable hardware clock interface; because the Reface CS lacks an LCD screen, artists cannot view or track their exact BPM or external master tempo feedback, severely disrupting live improvisation.

User Pain points

Okaku Saito - Touring Producer

"When I am on the road, I am forced to haul my laptop, speakers, and a lot of power adapters just to jam in a hotel room. Setting it up takes forever, and packing it down is exhausting."
Robert Alfred - Travelling musician
"A 32-37 key controller often lacks an LCD, so you'll never know your exact tempo without using a master MIDI controller. Patching those gears from different manufacturers is too technical and tedious."

The Solution

The Mi-Amp directly solves these performance bottlenecks by housing a high-fidelity stereo speaker system, a centralized master MIDI host, and a dedicated hardware sound generator module securely inside a single portable footprint. The custom-engineered chassis allows artists to seamlessly retrofit standard 32-to-37-key mini-keyboards or hardware synthesizers directly into the integrated cavity. Pre-wired internally with an independent 4S Li-ion battery framework and a crystal-clear LCD tempo interface, it transforms separate pieces of loose gear into a rugged, cohesive, plug-and-play production asset.

Deliverables

The Hardware Architecture

  • Physical Footprint: Precision-crafted 22" x 15" base tailored for high-mobility retrofit applications.

  • Acoustic Setup: Dual 3.5" to 4" high-efficiency audio drivers powered by an internal amplifier board.

  • Power Management: Integrated 4S Li-ion battery configuration with built-in surge charging and power distribution systems for on-the-go performance.

  • Logic Board: ESP-32 based midi-clock and midi recoring with minimal sound engine for accompanyment and metronome.
